Morning Keynote: Michèle Mullen

The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (Cyber Centre) offers a unified approach to cyber security that will build on Canada’s already world-class cyber security expertise.  It will centralize cyber innovation and collaboration for the country and be a place where private and public sectors work side-by-side to solve Canada’s most complex cyber issues. The Cyber Centre will be a single unified source of expert advice, guidance, services and support on cyber security for government, critical infrastructure owners and operations, the private sector and the Canadian public. With the Cyber Centre, Canadians will have a clear and trusted place to turn to for cyber security issues.

Join Michèle Mullen, Director General of the Cyber Centre, for a morning keynote discussion on ways which the Cyber Centre will provide stronger cyber protection, defence, and security for the Government, the private sector, and all Canadians. 



Afternoon Keynote: General David H. Petraeus

General David H. Petraeus (US Army, Ret.) is a partner at KKR and Chairman of the KKR Global Institute, a position he assumed some six years ago. He is also a member of the boards of directors of Optiv and FirstStream, a venture investor in more than a dozen startups, and engaged in a variety of academic endeavors.

This informative afternoon keynote session will feature a moderated conversation between General Petraeus and Michael Doucet, Executive Director, Office at the CISO at Optiv, highlighting key strategic issues and responses in cybersecurity in both the international landscape and the Canadian environment. 

The keynote discussion will be moderated by Cheryl McGrath, Area VP and Country General Manager at Optiv Canada.

Is there a fee to participate?

No, OptivCon is a complimentary event.

How do I earn CPEs for attending?

Attendees will be asked to sign in with their (ISC)2 member number at the registration desk during the event. Optiv will submit 6 CPE credits directly to (ISC)2 for attendees. If a certificate is required for an organization other than (ISC)2, Optiv will provide one upon request.

What time should I arrive at the event?

Vendor exhibits, registration and breakfast open at 8:00 a.m. The morning keynote begins promptly at 8:45 a.m.

Do I have to choose a breakout track?

We ask all registrants to choose a breakout track of interest. Optiv doesn't require that you attend only sessions in that breakout track. Please attend any sessions that are of interest to you.

What can I expect from the breakout sessions?

These sessions will focus around the overarching topics of compliance, operational efficiency and risk management.

About the Venue

Shaw Centre is an Operational Enterprise Agency of the Crown in the Province of Ontario, governed by the Ottawa Convention Centre Corporation Act, with a mandate to operate, maintain and manage an international class convention centre facility in the city of Ottawa in a manner that will promote and develop tourism and industry in Ottawa and Ontario. The former Ottawa Congress Centre was one of the most successful convention centres of its type in the country. The new Shaw Centre is now open on the site of the old Congress Centre, part of a major redevelopment that has almost tripled its hosting capacity.

Parking Info

The closest parking garage to Shaw Centre is a fully-staffed facility with entrances on Daly Avenue and Nicholas Street South. Entry points to the Shaw Centre are located on both levels on the north and west walls.
